FALL’S HERE, TAKE NOTE!

To adjust to a new season, take note of the changes!

As a new season settles in, and as you begin to sense and see things
changing around you – it’s time to take note of what they are.
This means letting go of some busy-ness and taking stock.
Of listening to the body.
Of checking your own seasonal adjustments,
and how in/out of balance they are.
Are you energized!
More productive?
Need more snuggling on the sofa?
Does cuddling up on the couch with a book at night,
Feel more “you” than patio nights out?
To many, the changes, temperature, and the balance of day and night,
are a kick-start to new habits (or a return to old ones)
It’s noting how our bodies are adapting to the
shorter days and longer, darker nights influencing our
circadian rhythms.
And how the season brings absences.
Pollinators have fled and our gardens miss their hum.
Our song birds have packed their cheery chirps and have headed south.
On our streets, summer’s crowded urban buzz settles down, as patio season dies down and the community events are tucked away for another year.
We take note of the evolving beauty of the season and feel humbled and
inspired by transformations.
From the trees that blaze red and golden, to the blooms that have
Turned to deadheads (and birdseed!)
Notice everything that’s changing within yourself.
You may suddenly be feeling more productive.
Your body may inform you have new cravings.
Things that have lain latent are picked up again.
The yoga class that went to the wall in the summer, resumed as part of your Fall routine.
Things animate and inanimate mark the change.
Knits, and boots take the place of sneaks.
In the kitchen, roots, and cabbages, replace your baby greens.
And warmth and comfortable become all.
Such seasonal adjustments, of course, come from taking note and being conscious of the season’s cues
and then, in your own way, rolling with them.
As Irish novelist Cecelia Ahern said:
Stop and take your time to notice things
and make those things you notice matter.

Happy Fall.
